Are you interested in enrolling your child at day care 't Olefantje? Then you can register your child via our registration form. Of course, you are welcome for a visit. Please make an appointment.
We work with a private waiting list. Here you will find a registration form to fill in. This will automatically be sent to Day Care 't Olefantje. Once we have received your details, your request will be processed. Your child will then be placed on the waiting list. We will only contact you if a place becomes available for your child. For more information about the placement opportunity, we advise you to contact us about three months before the desired placement date.
- In principle, a child is placed for at least one day.
- We strive to place as many children as possible on the desired placement date. However, this depends on the available places.
- We advise you to contact Alexi Jordan of Charlie Muller well before your desired start date.
- Places are not kept open.
- Siblings and children of Day Care 't Olefantje have priority on the waiting list.
- Extension of days will be handled before new applications.
- Extension of days will be handled before switching of days.
- A placement is automatically terminated on the last day of the month in which the child reaches the age of four.
- Premature notice of termination must be given in writing before the first or the fifteenth of the month. This with due observance of a notice period of 1 calendar month.
Note: Generally speaking, there is less demand for Wednesdays and Fridays.
Because we have a notice period of one month, the exact planning of a certain month is only determined one month before.
Our day care is open from Monday to Friday from 7.45 am to 6.15 pm.
In order to create as much peace and quiet as possible in the groups and to keep things clear for the children, we would like to ask you to keep fixed drop-off and pick-up times. Due to the regularity of the groups, we ask parents to drop their child off between 7.45 and 9.00 am and pick them up from 4.30 pm onwards. Exceptions are of course possible.
Each parent receives a secure key to the front door, which can only be used by authorised persons (parents and staff) to enter the premises. Parents can enter the building at any time when we are open. We do ask you to take our daily schedule into account, but parents are of course always welcome. For each key, a deposit of EUR 10 is required.
We are closed on public holidays, on 5 May (every 5 years), the day after Ascension and around Christmas and New Year (maximum five working days). On 26 April, 5 December and 24 December, we close at 5.00 pm. During the summer holidays, we are open as normal.
For the parents
Day Care 't Olefantje has a Parents' Committee. You can discuss all kinds of things you might want to discuss with other parents. The Parents' Committee meets four times a year with the holder to discuss the policy and functioning of 't Olefantje. In addition, the PC organises parents' evenings and social activities. For example, every year, the Parents' Committee organises a child-oriented first aid course and they always organise a pleasant parents' drinks get-together in September. The date of the next meeting and the names and telephone numbers of members are on the board in the corridor of the day care. The PC can also be reached via: email@example.com
For all their good work, the Parents' Committee asks for a voluntary contribution. This is a one-off amount based on EUR 5 per year per child. That means EUR 20 on entry for babies, 15 for young toddlers (up to 2 years) and 10 or 5 for toddlers (3 or 4 years). You pay once (so not every year). It is a voluntary contribution, but without the contribution, the Parents' Committee will not be able to organise as many activities.
We want to do everything we can to ensure that parents and children are happy. So, feel free to express your concerns or any complaints to the day care's management or the Parents' Committee. Here you will find more information about our Complaints Procedure.
Day Care 't Olefantje is affiliated with the Disputes Committee for Childcare. If parents have a dispute with 't Olefantje and cannot work it out with us, they can call on the help of this external and independent body. More information about this can be found at www.degeschillencommissie.nl.
What to bring
- cuddly toy/cloth
- change of clothing
Each child gets their own bag. When a child moves to a new group, the bag moves along with them. In this bag, you can put things for your child, such as a change of clothes in case your child needs to put on clean/dry clothes. If a child has a cuddly toy and/or soother, you can put it in here as well. It is important to check occasionally if the change of clothes is still the right size. We appreciate the marking of all items and soothers.
In addition to the daily verbal communication, everything in communicated in writing in the notebooks. Both parents and teachers can tell daily things, details or fun events. The notebooks are also useful to mention important things, such as changes in diet or daily routine. You can also find agreements made here. These notebooks are also nice for later!
Food, drinks and nappies are included, with the exception of special dietary foods. The standard baby foods (Nutrilon and Friso), bread, toppings, milk, yoghurt, juice and fruit are available at the day care. If your child needs different food, you must provide this yourself. We will then ensure that your child receives the correct nutrition. If your child has a special diet, you should of course also pass this on to the teachers.
We do not eat sweets at the day care. Exceptions are public holidays and birthday treats. However, we do prefer a healthy treat. You can arrange this in consultation with the teachers. There is also an information folder at the care with great ideas for healthy treats. You can also contact the teachers.
We do not have sufficient capacity to take care of sick children. Sick children need extra attention and care, preferably that of their parents. When we are unable to give a sick child in the group the attention they deserve at that moment (given we take care of several children at the same time), we ask parents to pick up their child. We then always act for the benefit of the sick child. We consider a child sick when they are whining or feverish and clearly do not feel comfortable in the group. In case of contagious diseases (such as some childhood illnesses), your child may not attend the day care centre for the protection of the other children. Sometimes it is impossible to prevent the infection.
Children who already have a fever in the morning (above 38 °C) are not allowed to attend the day care. Experience has shown that fever generally increases during the course of the day. You will be called when your child falls ill at the day care. We will keep a close eye on a child who has a fever that has risen but still seems to be feeling well. We will warn parents in advance, so that they can take into account that their child may need to be picked up. That is why it is important that we always know where you can be reached during the day. If your child has a childhood illness, please inform the teachers so that they can inform other parents as well.
't Olefantje has its own Sickness Policy, which exactly indicates how we deal with the illness of children. You can find this Sickness Policy here. Of course, you can always call us to discuss it.
We assume that all children are vaccinated at the indicated times. If there are (medical) objections against the vaccination of the child, you should inform the management of the day care.
Payment and rates
It is a requirement that the payment for the child place has been arranged before the day care can start. Payment will be made by direct debit. The money due will be automatically debited from your account every month before the 1st of the month for which the allowance is to be paid.

Day Care 't Olefantje Nieuwegracht includes bottle feeds (Nutrilon/Hero) for the little ones, and food, drinks and nappies. If your child has an allergy or follows a diet and therefore needs special food, you have to provide the food yourself.
The rate of Day Care 't Olefantje includes a limited number of additional days per year. These can only be used when the group occupancy allows it. You can discuss this with the teachers of the group. In general, the group will be full, but the teachers know best when a child is absent. Also, if you want to change days you can discuss with the teachers whether this is possible.

The day care has the necessary municipal permits and meets all the standards set by the day care.
