Registration and placement

We work with a private waiting list. Here you will find a registration form that you can fill in. This will automatically be sent to 't Olefantje. Your child will then be placed on the waiting list. Only when a place becomes available for your child, we will contact you. For more information about the placement opportunity, we advise you to contact us yourself about three months before the desired placement date.

  • Children can be placed when they go to the primary school Pieterskerkerkhof or the Aghata Snellen school.
  • We strive to place as many children as possible on the desired placement date. However, this depends on the available places.
  • We advise you to contact Kim van Swelm or Selma Hot well before your desired start date.
  • Places are not kept open.
  • Siblings and children of Day Care 't Olefantje have priority on the waiting list.
  • Changes and extensions of days are handled before new applications.
  • A placement is automatically terminated at the end of the school year in which the child reaches the age of 12.
  • Premature termination must be in writing before the first of the month. This with due observance of a notice period of 1 calendar month.

Note: Generally speaking, there is less demand for Wednesday and Friday.

Because we have a notice period of one month, the exact planning of a certain month is only determined one month before.

For the parents

After-school care 't Olefantje has a Parents' Committee. You can discuss all kinds of things you might want to discuss with other parents. The Parents' Committee meets four times a year with the holder to discuss the policy and functioning of 't Olefantje

The first meeting of the PC took place on 3 January 2013. The PC was set up to look after the interests of parents and children in childcare. The Parents' Committee can advise the after-school care with regard to the quality of childcare. In addition, the PC organises parents' evenings and social activities. Ideas are welcome. The names of members can be found on the board in the corridor of the after-school care and are shown below.

If you have any suggestions and/or remarks, or if you are interested in joining the PC, please let us know (ocolefantjebso@gmail.com). The agendas and reports of the meetings can be found here. Click here for the Parents' Committee Regulations. In addition, you can address the members of the Parents' Committee personally:

  • Ari J. van Vliet (chairman, father of Noud and Yinthe)
  • Jan Willen van den Besselaar (secretary, father of Miep and Brecht)
  • Kitty Paes (mother of Rosa and Valentijn)
  • Peter Gerbrans (Father of Emma)

We want to do everything we can to ensure that parents and children are satisfied. So, feel free to express your concerns or any complaints to the care's management or the Parents' Committee. Here you will find more information about our Complaints Procedure.

Day Care 't Olefantje is affiliated with the Disputes Committee for Childcare. When parents have a dispute with 't Olefantje and cannot work it out with us, they can call on the help of this external and independent body. More information about this can be found at: www.degeschillencommissie.nl.

At least once a year, the teachers of all groups have 10-minute interviews with the parents of each child in their group. During these 10-minute interviews, they will talk about how your child is doing and how they are developing. Prior to the discussion, one of the teachers will observe your child extensively using observation forms. Specific areas of development, such as social/emotional skills, motor and cognitive development will then be examined and explained during the interview. You will also be able to discuss things you might not normally be able to do and there will be attention for your own parenting ideas. You will automatically be invited by the teachers to such an interview.

If you feel the need for a parent conversation apart from these 10-minute interviews, you can always make an appointment with Bart, Isabel, Hajar or Selma.

Payment and rates

It is a requirement that the payment for the child place has been arranged before the day care can start. Payment will be made by direct debit. The money due will be automatically debited from your account every month before the 1st of the month for which the allowance is to be paid.

The rate of 't Olefantje includes a limited number of extra days per year. Click here for the rates of 2021. These extra days can only be used when the group occupancy allows it. You can discuss this with the teachers of the group. In general, the group will be full, but the teachers know best when a child is absent. Also, when you want to switch days, you can discuss with the teachers whether this is possible.
